Product Description

Hohner Juke Harp MS - The Juke Joints of the south were the birthplace of blues music. Early blues greats would travel to these smoke-filled, dimly lit venues and light the place up with their souls to get the people dancing till the early morning hours. The Juke Harp pays homage to these establishments and the blues culture they fostered that lives on today.

Seydel Session Standard Harmonica

£28.99

18 Keys available

The Seydel Session Standard Harmonica is a diatonic harp with a plastic comb and stainless steel covers. A fantastic blues harp that is ideal for beginners. Learn to play on this wonderful Seydel Session Standard Harmonica, that comes in the majority of keys. The Session Standard shares the same construction as the more expensive Session Steel model; the only difference is that the Standard comes with brass, rather than stainless steel, reeds. The reed plates from the Session Steel are interchangeable with the Session Standard, so it's possible to upgrade to these in the future, should you wish to. All Seydel harmonicas are manufactured in Germany, so the Session Standard represents one of the of the most cost-effective entry points to a quality German made diatonic. Some players prefer the sound of the traditional brass reeds used in this harmonica and a small number of other Seydels, such as the Favorite, to the stainless steel reeds used in the majority of the company's harps. Like the Session Steel, the Session Standard features recessed reed plates, which means that the player's mouth doesn't come into contact with the reed plates, aiding rapid runs up and down the harmonica. The ABS comb is durable and swell resistant. A great harp for any player, but an especially good choice for those who want a quality instrument without breaking the bank! About Seydel Seydel is the world's oldest extant manufacturer of harmonicas, having been producing the instruments in Germany since the 1940s. Following World War 2, the factory was, unfortunately, located within the newly formed GDR, and the company was absorbed into the state run manufacturer of musical instruments - VEB Klingenthal Harmonica Works. After the end of the Cold War, Seydel was returned to the descendants of its owners, then was sold to the current owners around a decade later. They are now known for their high quality, durability, and, in many models, their signature stainless steel reeds.... Read more

Lee Oskar Major Diatonic harmonicas are part of the Lee Oskar range of modular blues harps, made by Tombo in Japan to Lee's specifications. The Major Diatonic is the most popular tuning in the range, as it follows the traditional Richter note layout, familiar to all ten hole harmonica players. If you want to play traditional blues tunes in first or second position, this is the harmonica you need. It will also work well for folk, pop and country, although players who wish to use minor keys, or are interested in playing country or Eastern tunes, should check out Lee Oskar's Melody Maker, Natural Minor and Harmonic Minor harps, which share the same basic architecture as the Major Diatonic, but feature different tunings. Lee Oskar harps are renowned for their dark, raspy tone, and the ease with which they can be maintained, making them ideal for beginners and experts alike. The traditional brass reeds are responsive, and the ABS comb is comfortable to use and offers excellent swell resistance. The bolted together construction facilitates cleaning and maintenance, and replacement reeds plates are available in all tunings at significantly less than the price of a new harmonica. 7 Keys available

NOTE: All keys except now in stock. The PentaHarp is built for all musicians, not just harmonica players! If you have every tried to learn the harmonica before and were confused with the note layout, this harmonica is for you. The PentaHarp’s intuitive design is easier to understand so you don’t have to use advanced techniques to get the notes that you know will work. You can play melodies and solos effortlessly! The Pentatonic scale is one of the most useful scales in popular music. Guitarists know this scale as “Playing in the Box”. Play any of these notes in the right key and you can’t play a wrong note. Hohner took this a step further by adding what is known as the “Blue Note”. This additional note adds a chromatic run for extra expression and is known to many as the “Blues Scale”. To play this scale on a standard harmonica you would have to perfect advanced techniques that could take years to master. Unlike standard Richter-tuned harmonicas, there is no need to play in 2nd position or “Cross Harp” position. The PentaHarp is straightforward in its tuning. You can play in the same key the song is in or the same harmonica can play a song in a major key if it is the relative minor. The notes are laid out in such a way that you do not need to draw bend, blow bend or overblow to play a useful scale!   ... Read more
