Product Description

The Seydel Session Steel natural minor tuning harmonica is the upgrade to Seydel's successful Session model, and it comes presented with a bold new look and superior technical reliability, excellent playability and a fantastic sound. This is a blues harmonica with corrosion-free stainless steel reeds, ergonomic covers and plastic comb.

Seydel's stainless steel reeds provide a bright and powerful sound, and also allow easy bending of notes. Their main advantage, though, is durability - some players have found that the lifespan of these reeds can be up to 5 times that of harps with traditional brass reeds. This is particularly relevant if you're a powerful player who likes to perform frequent overblows.

As with all Seydels, air tightness is high, and the cover plate design ensures that the Seydel Session Steel Natural Minor harmonica is friendly to both lips and beards (not something you can say about all harmonicas!). Build quality is also exceptionally high - a legacy both of Seydel's long history and its investment in new technology in the last decade or so.

This is the natural minor tuned Session Steel, however you can also get it in Paddy Richter, PowerDraw, PowerBender, Melodic Maker, Circular/Melody King, Country and Harmonica Minor. If you would like any of the other tunings please contact us. We also offer custom tuning such as equal temperament on special order.

The Seydel Favorite can hold its own with other top end harmonicas. It has a translucent anodised aluminium comb and stainless steel covers. Part of the Seydel Blues Series. The Favorite shares some of the features of Seydel's other diatonic harmonicas: the alloy comb material of the 1847 Noble, the brass reeds of the Session and the cover plates and general design of the Session Steel. This provides it with a deep but bright sound, reminiscent of the Noble, but with the slightly more traditional tone of brass reeds. As the Favorite shares the basic design of the Session Steel, the reed plates can be changed at a later date to ones with stainless steel reeds, should this be desired. Play fast runs and Irish tunes on your harmonica The SESSION STEEL Major Cross from Tony Eyers makes fast tunes easier to play. The instrument was developed for fast bluegrass and Irish tunes. It’s also useful for Irish Folk, Scottish Reels, Jigs, Country tunes and all kind of flute and fiddle tunes. Explore the possibilities of this new tuning. The MAJOR CROSS tuning, developed by Tony Eyers, allows a major scale to be played in second (or cross) position without any bending. While many players use second position, they often find traditional tunes challenging, due to the bending/overblowing needed for some notes. MAJOR CROSS eliminates this problem. Moreover, as bending/overblowing is generally not needed, MAJOR CROSS harmonicas are well suited to the fast speeds common with traditional fiddle tunes.        ... Read more

Hohner Little Lady Harmonica

£11.99
The Hohner Little Lady is the smallest harmonica in the World. It is fully playable and was the first instrument to be played in outer space in 1965. The Little Lady was made worldwide famous in 1965 when Walter Schirra, commander of the Gemini 6 manned space flight mission, used one to play “Jingle Bells” for the his team at Ground Control. With an overall length of only 3.5 cm (1.38 inches) it is the smallest playable series manufactured harmonica in the World and shares the same high technical standards as its larger siblings. Note: This is the German made version of the Little Lady, featuring a pearwood comb, not the Chinese made plastic comb model, which, in our view, is inferior. You can also pick up the Hohner 360° Collectors Edition Harmonica that commemorated the 50th anniversary of the remarkable occasion when Walter Schirra played the Hohner Little Lady harmonica in outer space here Comb: Pearwood Made in Germany Cover Surface: stainless steel Number of holes: 4 0.9mm brass reed plates 8 brass reeds One complete diatonic octave in C-major Length: 3.5 cm About Hohner Hohner is one of the world's oldest harmonica manufacturers and has been producing harmonicas and related accessories in Germany since the middle of the 19th century.  ... Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic

£32.99

32 Keys available

The Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic harmonica is the original blues harmonica. Today it is still manufactured in much the same way as when it was first introduced in 1896. Its uniquely authentic sound has defined the role of the harmonica in the blues tradition and made it the benchmark by which all others are judged. Like the original Marine Band, the current 1896 model uses traditional long slot brass reeds, an open back and a pearwood comb to provide the warm and raspy tone beloved of blues, folk and country players throughout the world. Unlike older models, however, it doesn't use 7 Limit Just Intonation, but instead utilises a modern compromise tuning. This is closer to Just than many of Hohner's other harmonicas, such as the MS range, but still allows single note melodies to sound pure and sweet. The Marine Band Classic is one of the few Hohner diatonics that is available in a full range of natural and harmonic minor tunings. For low tunings, we  recommend the Hohner Thunderbird, which has been designed from the ground up as a low tuned harmonica, but still has similar tone and feel to the classic Marine Band. Should you wish to replace reed plates on the Marine Band Classic, we recommend upgrading to the Andrew Zajac Marine Band Conversion Kit, which replaces the stock nails with a bolted setup, and makes the process of changing reed plates significantly easier. Original cover design from 1896 ensures the classic blues sound Greatly reduced swelling behaviour through double-coated pear wood comb Reeds: 20 Brass Reed Plates: 0.9mm brass Comb: Pearwood, brown Mouthpiece: pearwood lacquered Cover surface: Stainless steel Made in Germany Check the Key for additional tuning options: Natural Minor & Harmonic Minor  ...
