Product Description

Seydel Session Antique

The Seydel Session Antique is a diatonic harp with plastic comb and antique-coated stainless steel covers and brass reeds. It is a smoothly shaped harmonica that is a great and ideal choice for beginners.

In terms of tone and playability, it is identical to the standard Seydel Blues Session Standard harmonica; the sole difference is the cover plate colour, which on the Antique model has a bronze coloured 'antique' finish.

Both the Session Standard and the Session Antique share the same construction as the more expensive Session Steel, with recessed reed plates and a modern cover plate design that extends smoothly to the ends of the harmonica. As a consequence, the Session Steel reed plates will fit the Session Standard and Antique harps, which means that you are able to upgrade to the brighter and longer lasting stainless steel reed plates when the original ones have reached the end of their lifespan

  • Rounded Plastic body with recessed reed plates
  • Brass reed plates, 1.0 mm thick, screwed
  • 10 Holes
  • The Seydel Session Standard edition comes in Chrome
  • Handmade in Klingenthal, Germany

Seydel has been manufacturing harmonicas in Germany since the middle of the 19th century, and is the world's oldest harmonica manufacturer. Its speciality is its durable stainless steel reeds, which significantly outlast traditional brass reeds and provide a distinctive bright sound.

Utilising the most seasoned tone-woods and unique construction techniques, Suzuki proudly offers a line of harmonicas in Rosewood, including the glorious Suzuki Pure Harp. Rosewood has been sought after by top musicians from all over the globe, from Classical Guitar players to top Violinists. This wood allows unique tonal qualities and when used in harmonica construction, gives a warmer tone. Using Rosewood can produce a high velocity of sound and a broad range of mid and low overtones. These 'lows' help to create a complex bottom end which imparts a richness to the overall tone to the instrument. The re-designed reeds, which are the heart of the instrument, have been produced with the advanced player in mind. However, this new reed design makes it easier to play the instrument chromatically, right out of the box! The new Suzuki Reed plates allow ease of play, especially with overblow and overdraw techniques. The MR-550 is one of Suzuki's newest all-hardwood Harmonica. Even the covers are Rosewood! Comes with a free case and discounted price against buying individual Suzuki Manji harmonicas. Features Suzuki's signature wood/resin comb, which provides the tone and warmth of wood, but with none of the swelling issues. The Suzuki Manji combines advanced technology and functional beauty to create a stunning 10 hole diatonic harmonica. This revolutionary Suzuki diatonic harp is named after Mr. Manji Suzuki, the company's founder — now in his late 80's, however still pretty much in charge. He started with a single hand-built model nearly 70 years ago, and has built Suzuki up into one of the world's premier harmonica manufacturers. Number of holes: 10 Cover plates: Stainless steel Reed plates:  Phosphor Bronze, 20 reeds Comb: Resin Wood Composite Keys: C/G/A (3 piece set) Made in Japan About Suzuki Suzuki is one of the world's leading harmonica manufacturers, and has been producing harmonicas and related instruments in Japan since 1963. Its signature feature is phosphor bronze reeds, which provide a distinctive sound and outlast traditional brass reeds. In common with other harmonicas made in Japan, such as those manufactured by Tombo, Suzukis tend to be tuned to equal temperament, rather than the compromised tuning more commonly found on German made Hohners and Seydels. This makes them ideally suited for playing melody lines, although chords are also possible. NOTE: All keys except now in stock. The PentaHarp is built for all musicians, not just harmonica players! If you have every tried to learn the harmonica before and were confused with the note layout, this harmonica is for you. The PentaHarp’s intuitive design is easier to understand so you don’t have to use advanced techniques to get the notes that you know will work. You can play melodies and solos effortlessly! The Pentatonic scale is one of the most useful scales in popular music. Guitarists know this scale as “Playing in the Box”. Play any of these notes in the right key and you can’t play a wrong note. Hohner took this a step further by adding what is known as the “Blue Note”. This additional note adds a chromatic run for extra expression and is known to many as the “Blues Scale”. To play this scale on a standard harmonica you would have to perfect advanced techniques that could take years to master. Unlike standard Richter-tuned harmonicas, there is no need to play in 2nd position or “Cross Harp” position. The PentaHarp is straightforward in its tuning. You can play in the same key the song is in or the same harmonica can play a song in a major key if it is the relative minor. The notes are laid out in such a way that you do not need to draw bend, blow bend or overblow to play a useful scale!   ... Read more
