This revolutionary Suzuki diatonic harp is named after Mr. Manji Suzuki, the company's founder — now in his late 80's, however still pretty much in charge. He started with a single hand-built model nearly 70 years ago, and has built Suzuki up into one of the world's premier harmonica manufacturers.

About Suzuki

Suzuki is one of the world's leading harmonica manufacturers, and has been producing harmonicas and related instruments in Japan since 1963. Its signature feature is phosphor bronze reeds, which provide a distinctive sound and outlast traditional brass reeds.

In common with other harmonicas made in Japan, such as those manufactured by Tombo, Suzukis tend to be tuned to equal temperament, rather than the compromised tuning more commonly found on German made Hohners and Seydels. This makes them ideally suited for playing melody lines, although chords are also possible.

Warning: It has come to our attention that counterfeit Suzuki Harmonicas are being offered for sale through overseas sellers. Please do not fall victim to these illegal sellers of Suzuki Harmonicas. All our Suzuki range have been purchased directly from the official Suzuki distributors.

Excellent customer service! My recent purchase required a couple of alterations in details and they were very responsive about it. Despite the changes in the order, the item actually arrived earlier than expected!

Circular tuning variant: all notes of the scale are arranged "logically" and can be reached by alternately blowing and drawing. Therefore it is possible to play up to 12 different chords. For the same reason, it is not so easy to clearly assign the key in which the harp is labeled in. Please note: hole #1 blow is the lowest note and designates the key of the harp here, although the playable major scale is 5 semitones (or a fourth) higher than the label on the instrument indicates. Depending on which root note you choose, you can very easily play melodies in the eight different 'church keys' = modes (modal scales). This tuning is sometimes also called "Spiral" or "Melody King". All of the notes and chords that were missing on the Major Diatonic, for playing minor blues, are right there on the Natural Minor. Play fast runs and Irish tunes on your harmonica The SESSION STEEL Major Cross from Tony Eyers makes fast tunes easier to play. The instrument was developed for fast bluegrass and Irish tunes. It’s also useful for Irish Folk, Scottish Reels, Jigs, Country tunes and all kind of flute and fiddle tunes. Explore the possibilities of this new tuning. The MAJOR CROSS tuning, developed by Tony Eyers, allows a major scale to be played in second (or cross) position without any bending. While many players use second position, they often find traditional tunes challenging, due to the bending/overblowing needed for some notes. MAJOR CROSS eliminates this problem. Moreover, as bending/overblowing is generally not needed, MAJOR CROSS harmonicas are well suited to the fast speeds common with traditional fiddle tunes.        ... Read more
