Lee Oskar Major Diatonic Harmonica

£31.49

16 Keys available

Lee Oskar Major Diatonic harmonicas are part of the Lee Oskar range of modular blues harps, made by Tombo in Japan to Lee's specifications. The Major Diatonic is the most popular tuning in the range, as it follows the traditional Richter note layout, familiar to all ten hole harmonica players. If you want to play traditional blues tunes in first or second position, this is the harmonica you need. It will also work well for folk, pop and country, although players who wish to use minor keys, or are interested in playing country or Eastern tunes, should check out Lee Oskar's Melody Maker, Natural Minor and Harmonic Minor harps, which share the same basic architecture as the Major Diatonic, but feature different tunings. Lee Oskar harps are renowned for their dark, raspy tone, and the ease with which they can be maintained, making them ideal for beginners and experts alike. The traditional brass reeds are responsive, and the ABS comb is comfortable to use and offers excellent swell resistance. The bolted together construction facilitates cleaning and maintenance, and replacement reeds plates are available in all tunings at significantly less than the price of a new harmonica. All over the world, professional players use Lee Oskar Harps as their first choice harmonica. "Standard" Richter tuning Available in 14 Keys (Listed low to high): Lo F, G, Ab, A, Bb, B, C, Db, D, Eb, E, F, F#, Hi G Model: 1910 - Orange Label Manufactured by Tombo in Japan ... Read more

Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic
Hohner Harmonicas

Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic

£32.99

32 Keys available

The Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic harmonica is the original blues harmonica. Today it is still manufactured in much the same way as when it was first introduced in 1896. Its uniquely authentic sound has defined the role of the harmonica in the blues tradition and made it the benchmark by which all others are judged. Like the original Marine Band, the current 1896 model uses traditional long slot brass reeds, an open back and a pearwood comb to provide the warm and raspy tone beloved of blues, folk and country players throughout the world. Unlike older models, however, it doesn't use 7 Limit Just Intonation, but instead utilises a modern compromise tuning. This is closer to Just than many of Hohner's other harmonicas, such as the MS range, but still allows single note melodies to sound pure and sweet. The Marine Band Classic is one of the few Hohner diatonics that is available in a full range of natural and harmonic minor tunings. For low tunings, we  recommend the Hohner Thunderbird, which has been designed from the ground up as a low tuned harmonica, but still has similar tone and feel to the classic Marine Band. Should you wish to replace reed plates on the Marine Band Classic, we recommend upgrading to the Andrew Zajac Marine Band Conversion Kit, which replaces the stock nails with a bolted setup, and makes the process of changing reed plates significantly easier. Original cover design from 1896 ensures the classic blues sound Greatly reduced swelling behaviour through double-coated pear wood comb Reeds: 20 Brass Reed Plates: 0.9mm brass Comb: Pearwood, brown Mouthpiece: pearwood lacquered Cover surface: Stainless steel Made in Germany Check the Key for additional tuning options: Natural Minor & Harmonic Minor  ... Straight-8 Leather Harmonica Case with tie cords - brown

Straight-8 Leather Harmonica Case with tie cords - brown

£72.99
Straight-8 Leather Harmonica Case with tie cords - brown. This leather harmonica case is available in dark brown with a contrasting distressed-effect cover, or jet black leather throughout. It holds up to 8 harmonicas - the 10 hole type that all rock and blues players use. Any brand will fit, whether it's Hohner, Lee Oskar, Suzuki, etc. The pockets are specially shaped for easy access whilst giving good protection, and there's a window in each pocket so you can see the key. (Harp players commonly mark their harps' keys with large letters so its easy to see them on stage.) The case rolls up and ties with strong leather tie cords. The Straight-8  is made from a thick high quality leather that's hard wearing on the outside and soft inside. This has a "buffalo" grain pattern that's perfect for the purpose. Extra protection is given with a cover piece in contrasting leather, shaped to mirror the traditional blues harp profile. All Pinegrove goods are hand-crafted in the UK from the finest materials. Owner, Rod Boyes, is not only a serious leather crafter, he's also a musician and songwriter.  Rod currently plays guitar and harmonica in Americana band The 309s, and his musical history goes back more than 30 years.  He started out playing bass in a punk band, switched to bluegrass guitar, then later Cajun and Western Swing.  He applies the same detailed attention to his music as he does to his leatherwork.  It's got to be perfect. In 2012 Rod decided to mix his musical experience with his design and craft abilities and launched Pinegrove Leather.   Previously he had been dissatisfied with the cases for harmonicas, which were either mass-produced and synthetic, or custom-made and beyond his wallet.  So he designed his own.  This was widely admired and a seed was sown.   The Pinegrove name comes from a well known Cajun song, The Pine Grove Blues by Nathan Abshire, a favourite from Rod's 10-year spell in a Cajun band.  ... Andrew Zajac Custom Dark Comb - Lee Oskar

Andrew Zajac Custom Dark Comb - Lee Oskar

£24.99
Andrew Zajac Custom Dark Comb - Lee Oskar is made from an earth-friendly composite of 100 per cent recycled paper, resin produced from naturally occurring raw materials and selected natural pigments. This material is strong, dense, waterproof, hypoallergenic, and does not emit any volatile organic compounds, including formaldehyde. It has been certified food safe, contains no petroleum-based chemicals and doesn't have an odour. Note - colour is not specified, but if you have a specific preference, let us know in the notes section of your order. These combs have all the benefits of a flat, unsealed Pearwood comb with none of the drawbacks. This material allows Andrew to focus on flatness without compromising the look and feel. The affordable price reflects how manageable it is to produce excellent combs out of this material. But don't be fooled - these are the very best combs. We do not know of any material that is better suited for harmonica combs. Dark combs™ have a glossy smooth front for comfortable playing. The sides and back of the Dark combs are lightly polished to a matte finish which has a nice appearance and feels comfortable to hold. Over time and with use, these surfaces will develop their own natural shine as they become worn in. Dark combs™ do not shatter when dropped on the floor, and their production has a much lower environmental impact than most other man-made materials. Many types of materials including Corian, brass or other metals can make the harmonica sound very bright. Dark combs help your harmonica produce the fat, dark, woody tone you get from a harmonica with an unsealed Pearwood comb. Why replace your harmonica's comb? To improve the instrument. An airtight harmonica is easier to play and has better tone. But simply switching the comb will not make it play better. A flat comb is only one part of making your harmonica more airtight. Harmonicas require a minute or two of preparation work before combs can be installed. These combs offer superior air tightness. They focus on high performance and do not compromise quality for ease of installation. Instructions and support is included with the purchase of combs. Unsealed Pearwood combs, when perfectly flat, are the model of excellence. Unfortunately, they do not last and will break down and warp with time.... Read more
