There are two problems with current chromatic harmonicas; the slide and and the air-valve. The Tombo S50 chromatic harmonica has no slide or air-valve, which helps to extend its lifespan versus traditional chromatic harmonicas Also it's constructed to provide one tone per hole, which makes it possible to produce significantly higher volume levels than traditional chromatics. Major notes are on the top, with sharps and flats on the bottom.

The Seydel De Luxe Chromatic is the entry point to Seydel's chromatic harmonicas and is one of the least expensive German-made chromatics on the market. The basic design of the De Luxe Chromatic is the same as the De Luxe Steel Chromatic, and the reed plates are interchangeable. The main difference is in the reed material; the De Luxe Steel uses stainless steel, which is a feature of many of Seydel's more expensive harmonicas, whilst the standard De Luxe model uses traditional brass reeds.
