Suzuki Musical Instruments was founded in the 1950s in Japan, and benefited greatly from the country's focus on the melodica as an educational instrument to be used in schools. In the 1990s it purchased the Hammond Corporation - manufacturer of the famous Hammond Organ, as used on many psychedelic recordings, particularly during the 1960s.

Today it produces a range of harmonicas, from basic 10 hole diatonics, through to high end chromatics. The company has maintained its connections with musical education, though, and has a range of harmonicas specifically designed for beginners and children.

The Suzuki Promaster Valved harmonica is the valved version of the popular MR-350 diatonic harp from the Japanese company. It uses the same polished stainless steel reed covers and satin finish anodised aluminium comb as the standard Promaster, and is similarly comfortable and responsive to play. Where it differs from the MR-350 is in its use of an innovative valve system, which enables bending in the blow as well as the draw cycles. This opens up a whole new world of playing, as the range of notes available is closer to that of a chromatic harmonica than a standard diatonic. The Suzuki Bluesmaster is a professional level 10 hole diatonic harmonica with a plastic comb and stainless steel covers. In common with most other Japanese made Suzuki harmonicas, the Bluesmaster features phosphor bronze reeds, which provide outstanding projection and durability.
