About Sonny Terry Sonny Terry was an American blues musician who was known for his distinctive style of harmonica playing. He lost his sight in 1927 at the age of 16, which ultimately led to his abandoning his original intention to pursue a career in the farming industry. Agriculture's loss, was music's gain, however, and after a decade of playing initially on street corners, then later in music venues, he recorded material for the Vocation label. After the end of World War 2, Terry was in demand for services as a session musician, adding harmonica to hits from Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. He also developed a partnership with guitarist Brownie McGee, which would continue for several decades, and included the release of material on several labels, and even appearances in Broadway productions. Terry died in 1986, having made only sporadic live appearances in the preceding decade. In the same year he was finally inducted into the Blues Founmdations Hall of Fame.  ... Read more
