Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor Harmonica

£34.49

12 Keys available

The Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor tuning has a very soulful, Eastern European sound and was used for one entire side of Lee Oskar's highly acclaimed first solo album. This harmonica is tuned to the harmonic minor, which is mos prevalent in traditional Eastern European, Gypsy and Asian music. The harmonic minor differs from the natural minor, which is more commonly used in Western music, in its seventh scale degree, which is raised by a semitone. As an example, the E natural minor scale uses the following notes: E-F♯-G-A-B-C-D. The E harmonic minor scale is virtually the same, but with a raised seventh: E-F♯-G-A-B-C-D♯. That is to say, the seventh note in the scale is raised by a semitone, from D to D#. The effect of this small change is quite considerable; the raised seventh provides a distinctly Eastern sound, and makes this tuning perfect for playing traditional Eastern European and Asian folk tunes. Conversely, it is not generally recommended for blues players, who will be better served by major diatonic or natural minor tunings Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor harmonicas are labelled in first position and are designed to be played in this position primarily. Model: 1910H - Yellow Label Available in 12 Keys (Listed low to high): Gm, Abm, Am, Bbm, Bm, Cm, Dbm, Dm, Ebm, Em, Fm, F#m Manufactured by Tombo in Japan About Lee Oskar Lee Oskar is widely regarded as one of the world's finest harmonica players, and since the 1980s has been collaborating with Tombo of Japan to produce a range of modular harmonicas, of which this model is one. Lee Oskar harmonicas are unique in that their modular design enables any set of reed plates to be used in any of the harps. Although this approach has been imitated by other manufacturers, such as Hohner, with its MS Series, none offer the range of tunings that Lee Oskar does.... Read more

Suzuki Overdrive Harmonica

£59.99

7 Keys available

The Suzuki overdrive has been years in the making, the amazing Overdrive Harmonica is so unique, it even has a special patent to protect its amazing design. Precisely placed holes in the top and bottom of this mouth organ allow you to produce thick, rich and beautiful over-blow and over-draw sounds. Although players have been bending notes for more than a century, it has only recently been discovered that when you draw bend, it is the BLOW reed that makes the bent note. Conversely, when you blow bend, it is the opposite blow reed in the same air channel that makes the bent note. With practice, the new Overdrive Harmonica will let you blow and draw notes with greater control and much bigger volume than any harmonica you've ever played! Comes with a deluxe carrying case. Solid plastic comb   Warning: It has come to our attention that counterfeit Suzuki Harmonicas are being offered for sale through overseas sellers. Please do not fall victim to these illegal sellers of Suzuki Harmonicas. All our Suzuki range have been purchased directly from the official Suzuki distributors.   ... Read more

Seydel Session Steel Harmonica Summer Edition 2023

£41.99

6 Keys available

Seydel Session Steel Harmonica Summer Edition 2023 - The Summer Edition Session Steel is back for 2023, and this year it comes with a metallic green comb. The Summer Edition retains all of the great features of the standard Session Steel, including German silver reed plates and stainless steel reeds, which can last up to 5 times longer than traditional brass reeds. The fine cut reed plates, extremely flat comb and tight tolerances ensure that there is minimal air loss. This makes the Session Steel very easy to play. Many players like to buy a Summer Edition Session Steel each year in a different key - the variation in comb colour then enables them to easily distinguish the various keys in low light situations, such as gigs. Other players just prefer the special edition harp's colour combos to the standard orange combed Session Steels. The Summer Edition harps are only available for a short time. When the production run is finished they won't be available, so make sure you grab one while you can! They're available in the six most popular keys and come with a black leather pouch.  ...
