Hohner Big River MS

£28.29

11 Keys available

The Hohner Big River is an attractive and robust instrument offers an ideal basis for beginners. Streamlined covers with side vents, plastic comb and brass reed plates offer a fantastic price/quality ratio, and is the entry point in Hohner' range for a German built harp. The Big River is part of Hohner's MS line, which allows components from any of the MS models to be interchangeable. So, it is possible to marry Big River cover plates with a Blues Harp comb and Meisterklasse 580/20 reed plates. Like other MS models, the Big River uses a compromised tuning that is slightly closer to equal temperament than the Marine Band Classic and the Special 20. Reeds: 20. Reed Plate: Brass, 0.9mm. Keys: C Major, D Major, E Major, F Major, G Major, A Major, Bb Major, B Major. Comb: Plastic. Plastic snap box. Hohner Blues Harp MS

£35.99

12 Keys available

The brand name ”Blues Harp® “ has attained cult status in the contemporary music scene. The Hohner Blues Harp MS model features a functional design combining a wooden comb, high covers without side vents and high quality reed plates to give the instrument its typical bluesy sound, which has made it immensely popular with beginning and intermediate players alike. Every now and again, a branded article achieves such a high degree of success and widespread distribution that the brand name becomes synonymous with the generic product. This has certainly been the case with the Hohner Blues Harp®, now well into its fifth decade as one of Hohner‘s most popular diatonic model. Part of the MS range of modular harmonicas, the Blues Harp shares some of its features, such as the reed plates, with the Pro Harp and Big River, with which all of its parts are interchangeable. The major difference between the Blues Harp and its MS siblings is the doussie wood comb, which provides a slightly warmer sound than the ABS comb on the Pro Harp and Big River, or the alloy comb on the Meisterklasse MS. Tuning is slightly closer to equal temperament than on the Special 20 or Marine Band models, making this the ideal harmonica for playing single note runs. Reeds: 20. Reed Plate: Brass, 0.9mm. Keys: C Major, Db Major, D Major, Eb Major, E Major, F Major, F# Major, G Major, Ab Major, A Major, Bb Major, B Major. Comb: Wood. Series: Modular System. Plastic snap box. ... Read more

Hohner Meisterklasse MS 580/20 Harmonica

£89.49

12 Keys available

The Hohner Meisterklasse MS 580/20 is the most exclusive model in the MS range, and one of Hohner's premium diatonic harmonicas. It features a lightweight metal comb and 1.05 mm reed plates - slightly thicker than the standard 0.9mm reed plates on the other MS models, for a richer tone. Ergonomically designed, with timelessly elegant chrome-plated covers that enable fast movement up and down the holes. The Meisterklasse's alloy comb, together with reed plates that are thicker than other MS harmonicas, provides it with a soulful but bright sound. The alloy comb gives great durability and the Meisterklasse has a nice weighty feel in the hands. The thicker reed plates provide greater volume than many of Hohner's other harmonicas, but bends are still easily available. Reeds: 20. Reed Plate: Brass, Nickel Plated 1.05mm. Keys: C Major, Db Major, D Major, E Major, F Major,  G Major, Ab Major, A Major, Bb Major, B Major. Comb: Aluminium. Plastic snap box. Made in Germany About Hohner Hohner is one of the world's oldest harmonica manufacturers and has been producing harmonicas and related instruments and accessories in Germany since the middle of the 19th century. Its innovations include the world's first production chromatic harmonica and the first diatonic harmonica to feature a swell-resistant ABS comb. Today Hohner still produces all of its premium harmonicas (diatonics with an RRP of more than £25, and chromatics with an RRP of more than £90, typically) in its factory in Trossingen, Germany.... Hohner Pro Harp MS Harmonica

£36.99

The Hohner Pro Harp MS has "Greblon" coated covers in matte black, which gives this model an unmistakable appearance. The black -coated covers and brass reed plates look fantastic and give the Pro Harp MS a powerful sound, which is popular with rock music harp players. The Pro Harp features an ABS comb that allows rapid movement across the holes and swell-free durability. A good alternative to the Special 20, for harmonica players looking for an easy to play harp that will last well. Tuning of this harp, like other MS models, is slightly closer to equal temperament than many of Hohner's other harmonicas, making it particularly suited to playing single note melodies. The Pro Harp is part of Hohner's MS range, which offers modular cross compatibility of all of the individual harps' components. So, it is possible, for example, to build a harmonica with the black cover plates from the Pro Harp, the nickel coated reed plates from the Meisterklasse and the wood comb from the Blues Harp. Fender Blues Deville Harmonica

£37.99

7 Keys available

The Fender Blues Deville Harmonica is Fender's top line diatonic, featuring phosphor bronze reeds, a durable ABS comb and a cool matte black and gold finish, not dissimilar to Hohner's Pro Harp. Build quality and tone are excellent, and bending is easy with the phosphor bronze reeds. The Fender Blues Deville Harmonica features an ABS comb, which is extremely resistant to moisture and swelling and can be easily cleaned. Reeds are phospor bronze - usually found only on Suzuki harmonicas. These give a rich, bright tone, with exceptional durability. Some players have reported lifespans significantly greater than traditional bronze reeds. Available in a range of 7 standard major keys: C, D, E, F, G, A and Bb. Also available as a 7 harp set, which is priced at a level that is significantly cheaper than buying all 7 keys individually This diatonic 10-hole harmonica offers the classic sound and long-lasting reliability of any genuine Fender instrument. Players who are looking for an entry level diatonic should check out the Fender Blues Deluxe, which features replaceable brass reeds, a durable ABC comb, and cool retro looks at a great price point. About Fender Fender Musical Instrument Corp can trace it origins to Fender Radio Service, which repaired and maintained  PA systems and radio equipment in the late 1930s and 1940s. Experiments with the lap steel guitar in the 1940s led to them becoming Fender Instruments, and  producing one of the earliest solid body electric guitars - the Telecaster. This led to the development of their most famous guitar - the Stratocaster - which helped to shape popular music throughout the 1960s and beyond. Harmonicas are a relatively recent product line from Fender, but the their experience in instrument design and manufacturing has allowed them to hit the ground running with their harmonicas and related equipment - The Blues Deville really is an excellent harp that's worthy of the Fender name.... Hohner Blues Harp, Pro Harp and Big River Reed Plates

£19.99

15 Keys available

The Hohner TM132 Reed Plates are designed to fit Hohner's Big River Harp, Blues Harp & Pro Harps. These reed plates are sold in pairs (top and bottom plate). It is always worth having spare reed plates, as fitting them can be done in as little as 5 minutes, and they can return a faulty harp back to full glory at significantly less expense than the price of a complete harmonica. All that is required to change reed plates is a small Phillips screwdriver and a little patience! Although these reed plates will fit the Meisterklasse 580/20 MS harmonica, this is not recommended, as the Meisterklasse achieves much of its tone from the thicker 1.05mm reed plates that come as standard. For Richter Modular System Models, Brass, 0.9mm. (E.g. Big River, Blues Harps and Pro Harp) TM132 Reed Plates: C, Db, D, Eb, E, F, G, Ab, A, Bb, B Made in Germany Return your harmonica to new for significantly less expense than purchasing a new harp. Hohner Harpblaster Microphone

Hohner Harpblaster Microphone

£167.99
The new standard in harp microphones The Hohner Harpblaster microphone is modelled after the sound of legendary vintage harp microphones and with the help of professional players, HOHNER and sE Electronics have created the HB52 Harp Blaster, a dynamic harmonica microphone. Boutique features such as the Bourns® potentiometer and the gold plated XLR connector and state of the art manufacturing make it the new standard in harmonica microphones. About sE Electronics After studying Western Composition at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and moving on to become a successful conductor, composer, and bassoon player, Mr. Siwei Zou was invited to California State University as a visiting scholar in their music department. During his first years in San Francisco, his contacts in Shanghai would send him newly-developed microphones with which to record. Though he was impressed with the performance of these models, he was unhappy with their machining and design, and began suggesting changes. At this point, sE began to take shape as a business. In the company's infancy, all sE microphones were produced by the same large-scale manufacturing facilities that still produce mics for dozens of brands known around the world. However, Siwei felt the need for a higher standard of quality and artistic control over his mics, and in 2003 the company opened its very own production facility in Shanghai. Since 2008, the sE factory has been run by Siwei's daughter, who presides over the day-to-day operations of the company and all of its 65 employees, including their team of 12 skilled staff engineers. At this facility, sE manufactures nearly everything that goes into their microphones. Today, sE Electronics is made up of specialized design, engineering and production teams, and has a global sales and marketing team across Europe and the USA.... Read more

Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic
Hohner Harmonicas

Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic

£32.99

32 Keys available

The Hohner Marine Band 1896 Classic harmonica is the original blues harmonica. Today it is still manufactured in much the same way as when it was first introduced in 1896. Its uniquely authentic sound has defined the role of the harmonica in the blues tradition and made it the benchmark by which all others are judged. Like the original Marine Band, the current 1896 model uses traditional long slot brass reeds, an open back and a pearwood comb to provide the warm and raspy tone beloved of blues, folk and country players throughout the world. Unlike older models, however, it doesn't use 7 Limit Just Intonation, but instead utilises a modern compromise tuning. This is closer to Just than many of Hohner's other harmonicas, such as the MS range, but still allows single note melodies to sound pure and sweet. The Marine Band Classic is one of the few Hohner diatonics that is available in a full range of natural and harmonic minor tunings. For low tunings, we  recommend the Hohner Thunderbird, which has been designed from the ground up as a low tuned harmonica, but still has similar tone and feel to the classic Marine Band. Should you wish to replace reed plates on the Marine Band Classic, we recommend upgrading to the Andrew Zajac Marine Band Conversion Kit, which replaces the stock nails with a bolted setup, and makes the process of changing reed plates significantly easier. Original cover design from 1896 ensures the classic blues sound Greatly reduced swelling behaviour through double-coated pear wood comb Reeds: 20 Brass Reed Plates: 0.9mm brass Comb: Pearwood, brown Mouthpiece: pearwood lacquered Cover surface: Stainless steel Made in Germany Check the Key for additional tuning options: Natural Minor & Harmonic Minor  ... Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor Harmonica
Lee Oskar Harmonicas

Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor Harmonica

£34.49

12 Keys available

The Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor tuning has a very soulful, Eastern European sound and was used for one entire side of Lee Oskar's highly acclaimed first solo album. This harmonica is tuned to the harmonic minor, which is mos prevalent in traditional Eastern European, Gypsy and Asian music. The harmonic minor differs from the natural minor, which is more commonly used in Western music, in its seventh scale degree, which is raised by a semitone. As an example, the E natural minor scale uses the following notes: E-F♯-G-A-B-C-D. The E harmonic minor scale is virtually the same, but with a raised seventh: E-F♯-G-A-B-C-D♯. That is to say, the seventh note in the scale is raised by a semitone, from D to D#. The effect of this small change is quite considerable; the raised seventh provides a distinctly Eastern sound, and makes this tuning perfect for playing traditional Eastern European and Asian folk tunes. Conversely, it is not generally recommended for blues players, who will be better served by major diatonic or natural minor tunings Lee Oskar Harmonic Minor harmonicas are labelled in first position and are designed to be played in this position primarily. Model: 1910H - Yellow Label Available in 12 Keys (Listed low to high): Gm, Abm, Am, Bbm, Bm, Cm, Dbm, Dm, Ebm, Em, Fm, F#m Manufactured by Tombo in Japan About Lee Oskar Lee Oskar is widely regarded as one of the world's finest harmonica players, and since the 1980s has been collaborating with Tombo of Japan to produce a range of modular harmonicas, of which this model is one. Lee Oskar harmonicas are unique in that their modular design enables any set of reed plates to be used in any of the harps. Although this approach has been imitated by other manufacturers, such as Hohner, with its MS Series, none offer the range of tunings that Lee Oskar does.... Read more

Will Wilde Rock Harmonica Tuning SEYDEL Endorser Will Wilde is the inventor of this Special Tuning which is very well suited for "tougher" musical styles like Hardrock or Blues-Rock. Read here how this tuning was invented and why Will uses it regularely since a few years in his shows: "I designed the Wilde tuning specifically for playing hard rock and blues-rock on the harmonica. As much as I love the standard Richter tuning, I have always found it frustrating when it comes to playing “rock guitar” style licks, particularly in the upper octave.  The Wilde tuning addresses all of the problems I had with Richter, whilst still retaining the bluesy feel of classic second position harmonica that we all know and love. Whereas Richter tuning was primarily designed for playing major chords and the major scale in first position, Wilde tuning is specifically designed for playing second position minor pentatonic and blues scale licks, throughout all three octaves. I have always preferred the sound of draw notes and draw bends to blow notes and blow bends, as you can get more expression and a better tone & vibrato from them.  So, on the Wilde tuning ALL of the draw notes bend (from holes one to ten) and your root note lands on a draw in all three octaves. I think that the Wilde tuning is the configuration that every aspiring rock harp player has been waiting for."... Read more

Andrew Zajac Custom Dark Comb - MS Series

Andrew Zajac Custom Dark Comb - MS Series

£23.99

Out of stock

Andrew Zajac Custom Dark Comb - MS Series is made from an earth-friendly composite of 100 per cent recycled paper, resin produced from naturally occurring raw materials and selected natural pigments. This material is strong, dense, waterproof, hypoallergenic, and does not emit any volatile organic compounds, including formaldehyde. It has been certified food safe, contains no petroleum-based chemicals and doesn't have an odour. Note - colour is not specified, but if you have a specific preference, let us know in the notes section of your order. These combs have all the benefits of a flat, unsealed Pearwood comb with none of the drawbacks. This material allows Andrew to focus on flatness without compromising the look and feel. The affordable price reflects how manageable it is to produce excellent combs out of this material. But don't be fooled - these are the very best combs. We do not know of any material that is better suited for harmonica combs. Dark combs™ have a glossy smooth front for comfortable playing. The sides and back of the Dark combs are lightly polished to a matte finish which has a nice appearance and feels comfortable to hold. Over time and with use, these surfaces will develop their own natural shine as they become worn in. Dark combs™ do not shatter when dropped on the floor, and their production has a much lower environmental impact than most other man-made materials. Many types of materials including Corian, brass or other metals can make the harmonica sound very bright. Dark combs help your harmonica produce the fat, dark, woody tone you get from a harmonica with an unsealed Pearwood comb. Why replace your harmonica's comb? To improve the instrument. An airtight harmonica is easier to play and has better tone. But simply switching the comb will not make it play better. A flat comb is only one part of making your harmonica more airtight. Harmonicas require a minute or two of preparation work before combs can be installed. These combs offer superior air tightness. They focus on high performance and do not compromise quality for ease of installation. Instructions and support is included with the purchase of combs. Unsealed Pearwood combs, when perfectly flat, are the model of excellence. Unfortunately, they do not last and will break down and warp with time.... Read more

When the Bulletini mic is installed, use the solid plug for "Huge" tone. Install the (holed) one for a slightly brighter, but still "Fat" sound with the possibility of adding hand effects. Brendan Power PowerBender Harmonica

£28.99

Out of stock

The Brendan Power PowerBender Harmonica tuning builds on the best parts of the traditional Richter Tuning, while altering the scale to make the real juicy and important notes much easier to obtain throughout the whole three octave range. If you're interested in a fresh sound on the 10 hole diatonic, LOTS more bending expression and easy jazzy playing, the Brendan Power PowerBender harmonica is a good choice for you! Same familiar breathing pattern in the upper-middle registers. All draw notes bend everywhere, holes 1-10! On the un-valved version you can overblow every hole 1-10, for full chromatic playing. Overdraws and blow bends are no longer possible or needed on a PowerBender - they are replaced with simple draw bends. On the half-valved version, a mix of normal draw bends and valved blow bends gives full chromaticism. Top octave easy to play (intuitive) as many familiar phrasings can be adopted from the bottom octaves Easy to play in the common positions: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 11th, and 12th. PowerBender Background PowerBender represents the culmination of 30 years experimenting to create personal alternate tunings. Each one is really usable; I’ve proved that by recording 18 albums with various earlier alternate tunings. They all have excellent qualities that remain valid for those who wish to explore them further, and will be described and demonstrated in other books. However, I believe that in the POWERBENDER I have hit a winning combination of strengths that rivals the Richter tuning for all-round playability, but surpasses it for expressiveness, ease of play and contemporary relevance. The POWERBENDER is a new universal tuning updating the 10 hole diatonic for modern music styles, which emphasize note bending and fluent improvisation in different keys. It builds on all the best parts of the traditional Richter tuning, while altering the scale to make the real juicy, important notes much easier to obtain, with fantastic expressive ability throughout the whole three octave range. Its beauty and strength is that it relies overwhelmingly upon draw bending for chromaticism and expression, an easy technique all players master quickly. Every draw note bends a semitone or more. Overblows are still available but significantly reduced in importance, as they are not required for most playing. A development of my earlier tuning experiments, the POWER BENDER reached its final form in 2008; since then I have adopted it as my main tuning for improvising in blues, jazz, rock, folk and pop styles. It’s such an easy and sweet sounding tuning on out-of-the-box harps that anyone who tries it quickly gets hooked.... Read more

About Danelectro Danelectro was originally founded in the USA by Nat Daniel in 1947. During the 1940s, the company produced amps for various large US retailers, before branching out into solid body electric guitars in the 1950s. Throughout this decade they also produced own brand guitars and amps for a number of US stores. In 1966, Danelectro was sold to MCA, but was disbanded only a few years later, following an abortive attempt to take the brand upmarket and into more specialist retailers. Having been purchased by the Evets Corporation in the 1990s, Danelectro today produces a range of retro styled guitars, amps and effects pedals that hark back to their origins in the 1950s and 1960s, but which use modern manufacturing techniques to achieve great vintage tone at a reasonable price level. Be sure to check out the Danelectro Billion Dollar Boost pedal, if you’re looking for a cleaner, but still overdriven, boost for you harp.... Read more

About Fender Fender Musical Instrument Corp can trace it origins to Leo Fender’s original business – Fender Radio Service, which repaired and maintained PAs and radio equipment in the 1930s and 1940s. After a brief foray into the production of lap steel guitars, Fender began to focus on the burgeoning market for solid body electric guitars. The result was the Telecaster - a simple and relatively affordable electric guitar that did without the glued in neck and more expensive detailing of the Gibson Les Paul, which was its main rival in the early electric guitar marketplace. Consequently, the Telecaster was substantially cheaper than the Gibson, leading to its adoption by many an up and coming band. Fender today produces a range of amplifiers and instruments, from beginners' models to extremely high end professional level equipment. Harmonicas are a recent addition to the Fender portfolio of instruments, but the Blues Deluxe has the same level build quality, playability and tone you would expect from any product from one of the world's most famous musical instrument manufacturers.... About Fender Musical Instument Corp Fender Musical Instrument Corp can trace it origins back to Fender Radio Service, which was involved in the repair and maintenance of  PA systems and radio equipment in the 1930s. Leo Fender's interest in guitars led to him producing a lap steel guitar in the 1940s. This in turn helped to move the company's interest to the production of instruments, resulting in Fender producing one of the earliest solid body electric guitars – the Telecaster. This differed from other solid bodied electrics, such as the Les Paul, by dint of its bolted on neck, which reduced production costs significantly, whilst still providing great tone and feel. Later developments saw the creation of the Stratocaster, Jazzmaster and Jaguar guitars and the Jazz and Precision bass guitars. The company is also still involved in the manufacturing of amplifiers, including famous models such as the Twin Reverb and Blues Deville. Harmonicas are a fairly recent product line from Fender, but the their experience in the production and design of musical instruments has allowed them to offer a small range of harmonicas and related accessories that can really compare well with those of more established harmonica companies. Each instrument and accessory also comes with a distinctive Fender look and feel that is certain to appeal to Fender fans and new players alike.... Read more
